Hi Everyone,

I’m very happy to be involved in the WALK FOR YES on Sunday 17th of September in Brisbane. I’m going to be joined by fellow Queenslanders @busbymarou to play a few tunes at the end of the walk.

I know that there are a lot of opinions about the validity of The Voice. I am in no doubt that Yes is the vote I will be submitting.

YES to an acknowledgement that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people inhabited our country for millennia before the arrival of the British and the subsequent Australian nation.  It is an indisputable fact.

Also, YES to an advisory body that will help make the decision making process that directly impacts the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, more effective.  This is a very rare opportunity for Australians to make a contribution to improving the circumstances that many of our First Nations communities are expected to endure. The statistics that detail the relative disadvantage in Health, Education, Employment, Housing and Justice, speak for themselves.

If you are yet to make up your mind about how you will vote in the upcoming poll please make the effort to read the (one page) Uluru Statement From The Heart ( https://ulurustatement.org/the-statement/view-the-statement/ ), which is a collective statement from representatives of First Nations communities from all over the country. It was  made after extensive, years long consultation amongst those groups.  It is an appeal to walk together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people into a more just future for the whole country.

I am disabling comments from this post because I don’t want it to become a forum for warm and fuzzy self congratulation or (more likely) abuse and toxic discussion.  God knows there are enough of them on social media already.  I don’t think it is necessary for my opinion to be validated or negated. Make your VOICE heard on October 14. Last week we had a ball celebrating the 20 Year Anniversary of the release of Vulture St. Today we are celebrating THIS! Pretty amazing for it to happen 20 years on. As far as I am told, it’s the first time in Australian music that a record has gone to the Toppermost of the Poppermost two decades after it’s initial release. And it’s all because of YOU. Yes, YOU Dear Reader. Thankyou so much for continuing to get behind @powderfinger_bandofficial Thanks also to all of the suits at @umusicau and @secretsounds for always telling everyone how good we were. We’re very humbled by the response. If you are a vinyl lover then git yaself a look at the new emerald edition. It’s a RIPPER. #vulturestreet #startlookingforproperty

We’re all very excited about joining the fantast

We’re all very excited about joining the fantastic lineup at @harvestrockfest 2023. It looks like it will be our final show for a while so come on down to the City of Churches, get yourself a Pie Floater, wash it down with some Barossa Shiraz, and we’ll all have a bit of a shindig together. Yahoooo!

God knows there has been so much strife, violence and displacement of people on these last few crazy years so there are many people that need our help. The @redhotsummertour wrapped up in Cairns on the weekend. Here’s some shots from the last few weeks. We’ve had a total blast at these shows and YOU have been incredible. We completed a lap of this bloody massive, stunning country and felt so grateful to be so warmly received wherever we went. Mil Gracias. T-ba….the country cosmopolitan capital of the Darling Downs. What kind of Mango Weiss Bar fueled madness was that? Obviously a few @bozscaggsmusic fans in the house. This Queensland leg has already taken the @redhotsummertour up a notch. It was LOUD. The beautiful surrounds of the vineyard @rocheestate , a monster crowd of well lubricated patrons, and the most 90’s thing ever- a circle pit, and the inevitably following punch up. Yep, a biff, at a winery. How embarrassing. Anyway, we ploughed on and had a fabulous show. Ready to do it all again Bella Vista Farm tonight.

You win. Five seconds into this gig @sandalford_wines we knew the energy of the audience was at another level. Anyone that was there knows what I am talking about. It’s such a privilege to still be able to come here and be received with such love and affection. It’s always been that way in WA, ever since the first matinee show with @powderfinger_bandofficial at The Planet Niteclub in ‘96. But last night was incredible. Thankyou so much. It’s a show we’ll never forget. Back to East next week. We’ve just tipped over the halfway mark for this tour, but the way it’s going, I never want it to end. Love BF X X

Especially for our ‘tightarsed’ friends on the banks outside the gates. Hats off to the Kerry Hemsley mullet warrior wearing vintage ‘Rugba Leeg’ jersey in an AFL heartland.
